This privacy policy explains how SnagCap ("we", "us", or "our") handles information collected through our social media automation tools when you connect your Instagram or Threads account.
1. Information We Collect
When you authorize SnagCap through the Instagram or Threads OAuth flow we collect:
- Your platform user ID and username
- An access token issued by Meta that allows us to act on your behalf
- Basic profile information returned by the platform API (username only)
We do not collect passwords, payment information, or personal contact details.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the access token solely to:
- Publish posts and replies to Instagram or Threads on your behalf
- Read engagement metrics (likes, replies, shares) for posts we published
- Refresh the token before it expires so publishing can continue without interruption
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than operating the SnagCap automation system on your behalf.
3. Data Storage
Account credentials and tokens are stored in an encrypted SQLite database on a private Azure virtual machine accessible only to SnagCap's operators. Access tokens are never logged in plain text.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third parties. The only external service that receives your access token is Meta's Graph API and Threads API, which require it to execute publishing actions.
5. Data Retention
Your account record and access token are retained for as long as your account remains connected. You may request deletion at any time by contacting us at the address below. Upon request, all stored tokens and account records for your account will be permanently deleted.
6. Revoking Access
You can revoke SnagCap's access to your Instagram or Threads account at any time through your Meta account settings under Apps and Websites. Revoking access immediately invalidates the stored token and stops all automated activity.
7. Children's Privacy
SnagCap is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated accordingly. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
